This was a project for the Gypsy Challenge at the 2008 International Quilt Show, yet another vignette. As I walked the competition area, I fell in love with each of the entries. This one though, I got to take home.
During the set-up for the show (our local club gets to help set-up the displays of out-of-town entries), one of the dolls turned up missing. If it were mine, I'd have been really upset, not this lady. Exhibiting more class than most of us will ever have, she simply stated, "Well, at least it was mine and not someone else's." Such a remark should humble us all. It certainly did me.
The Sea Witch sits sprawled on her "throne". one leg over the armrest. Stirring her vat, she brews trouble both in the pot and in her mind. Unsuspecting sailers had best beware. Once caught in her snares, few could ever escape…
